Can You Still Feel the Pain?

It’s early in the morning, people gathered ‘round

to see the Man from Galilee stumble to the ground.

Well, they call out His name and laugh at Him, but He gives no reply

‘cause He knows that He was born on earth just so He could die.

It should have been me nailed to that tree,

but instead I drove the nails. I drove the nails.

Well, they take Him up to the hilltop where many men have died.

The people laugh and spit at Him; still they’re not satisfied.

So they strip Him of His clothes, and they throw them to the ground.

And as they drive those nails in His hands, He makes not a sound.

It should have been me nailed to that tree,

but instead I drove the nails. I drove the nails. I drove the nails.

For six long hours He hung there in pain

as all the sins of eternity were smeared across His name.

I’m not really sure, but I thought I heard Him say...

He said, “Forgive them Father for what they’ve done today.”

Oh, Jesus can You still feel the pain?

Do You still hear us when we laughed and mocked Your name?

Oh, Jesus we’re so deeply ashamed. Forgive us.

Please forgive us! Oh, oh, can You still feel the pain?
